Ten Reasons to Teach Yourself Spanish

  1. To help people. Knowing a second language allows you to be able to translate for your Spanish speaking friends or make the new family in the neighborhood feel welcome.

  2. Open up opportunities. Being bilingual makes an employee more valuable to their employer and opens up more job opportunities.

  3. Open a new world of friends. Think of all the people with which you can't communicate. There is a whole new world of relationships of which you could be a part.

  4. Expand your travel experience. Order with confidence at a restaurant. Ask intelligent questions.

  5. Learning something new keeps your mind sharp. People who learn a second language remember things better and hold back age related mental deterioration.

  6. To understand more around you. Caliente! Para espanol, oprima numero dos.

  7. It's the second most spoken language in the U.S. Over 40 million people in the United States speak Spanish. That's a lot of people right here in your own backyard!

  8. Give your children more opportunities. Think of the world of opportunities you will open up for your children who learn a second language at a young age. Broaden their horizons!

  9. Understand your own language better. When learning Spanish you will study grammar which will help you understand the grammatical rules for English too.
